What is Stem Cell?

Stem cells

Stem cells or progenitor stem cells are cells that are the starting point of the growth in various tissues and organs. These cells are found in almost every tissue and organ in the body. When our organs are damaged, these stem cells will divide and grow to replace the damaged or dead cells.

The number of stem cells in each age group (NUMBER OF STEM CELL)

The human body has stem cells to act as progenitor stem cells which help the body repair the deteriorated cells and organs, but as the body get older the number of stem cells in the body is decrease. This is the reason why the body's reparation process is less effective as well.

Autologous Stem Cell Therapy
Therapy by using your own cells

Advancement in the current medical technology has allowed the use of own cells (Autologous Cell) with high safety standard for treatment the degeneration of the body. Furthermore, the treatment is an alternative to treat some diseases which cannot be cured with conventional treatment such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, Parkinson's disease, psoriasis, etc

From which parts of the body can we retrieve the cells?

In the past, the stem cell treatment is the process of bone marrow transplantation, the physicians will use direct bone marrow extraction to culture the stem cells, which was a difficult procedure and caused injury to the body. Nowadays, we can inject a stimulant to get the stem cells out into the bloodstream. This will make the treatment easier for the physicians to use and store stem cells safely and more efficiently.

What is PBSC?

Peripheral Blood Stem Cell

PBSC Therapy is a stem cell transplantation program by using the cells from your own blood, starting with a stem cell stimulant injection to increase the number of stem cells into the bloodstream. Subsequently, the stem cells will be stored and sorted by an Apheresis machine. And the next step is stem cell culture which perform by standardized medical laboratory for increasing the number and quality of the stem cells. The last process is stem cell transplantation which the physician will transfer the cell back to the body to stimulate the reparation process of various parts of the body.

Your stem cells also can be stored in a cryopreservation system at a temperature of -196 °C which can be stored for up to 10 years in order to bring the quality stem cells today to be used in the future.

Potential uses of Peripheral Blood Stem Cell (PBSC)

ㆍIt is safe since it is a stem cell from oneself.

ㆍReceiving a large number of stem cells.

ㆍThere are enough numbers to restore health.

ㆍIt can be stored multiple times throughout lifetime.

ㆍIt can be preserved for future use.

ㆍIn the process of separating stem cells, various types of cells are obtained, such as:

      - HSCs (Hematopoietic Stem Cells)

     - EPCs (Endothelial Progenitor Cells)

     - NK Cells (Natural Killer Cells)

     - MSCs (Mesenchymal Stem Cells)

Precautions-Stimulant Injection

1. The stimulant injection should be injected at approximately the same time each day for 4 consecutive days.

2. There is no need to refrain from water or food before the stimulant injection.

3. In the case of receiving anticoagulant drugs, you must inform the physician first.

4. All kinds of herbal medicines should be avoided.

5. Stimulant injections may cause aches, agitation, headaches, or low grade fever. These symptoms shall relieve on their own. If the symptoms are severe, paracetamol may be taken.

Precautions-Before blood collection

1. Take care of your body to avoid injuries or wounds.

2. Get enough rest and avoid alcohol and smoking.

3. Avoid venipuncture in the foldable joints of both arms

4. The main meal should be eaten before the blood collection. (takes about 2-4 hours)

Precautions-After receiving stem cell therapy

1. After receiving stem cell therapy, drowsiness, fatigue, or low-grade fever may occur.

2. Protein supplements should be taken, or parenteral vitamins and nutrient should be given that provide energy to the cells.

3. Avoid strenuous activities or exercises for at least 7 days after receiving the cells.

4. Get enough rest and avoid alcohol and smoking.
